>> but also includes difficult conditions for the dolphins as they head to the chiefs. we're talking wind chill of 19. 30 miles per hour. we move further to the north and notice steelers versus bills 24 degrees, winds 40 miles per hour and on top of that heavy snow. if i had to choose one of these outdoor games i'm going to tampa. showers and thunderstorms, sure. but temperatures in the upper 60s look a lot better than what we'll be dealing with across portions of of the plains. wind chill alerts right now with 20 million people impacted right now, and you can see why. places like denver 5 below and this is going to dip as far south as texas in the coming days. it'll be just zero degrees on monday as we get into portions of of texas. minus 38 for the wind chill, it's going to be really uncomfortably cold and dangerous conditions for a lot of folks as they're out and about. we've got winter alerts, flood alerts all on the table here

with some of the heavy snow and the gusty winds then that flood threat continues to work its way into the northeast. behind it we have intense arctic air that's going to spill into the central plains there. the coldest air that they've seen so far this season, but that as we look towards monday, as we look at the iowa caucus here, we will have windchills, these are real feel windchills up to minus 40, 40 degrees below zero, minus 34 as we head into monday, and when you have windchills this extreme, this dangerous you're talking about frostbite in 20 minutes or less, this is extremely dangerous, life-threatening and it's the first bit of cold they're seeing so far this winter coming off the heels of one of the warmest winters that they've seen on record so, yeah, looking at all of the past caucuses we've seen here in des moines, in will be by far the coldest because we're looking at an average high at minus 4. might not even reach 4 degrees on monday.

coming up on "morning joe." time now for the weather and let's go to meteorologist anglei lassman for the forecast. >> here we go again, jonathan. we've got another winter storm system going to cause problems across the country. we've got wind alerts up and the system is on the move. it's going to bring some snow to parts of the plains today and also bring arctic air across much of the plains. the coldest we've seen so far i'll show you in a moment. look at the wintry mess with snow and strong winds as we get into tomorrow. the rain works into the east, see the potential for severe storms today, into the evening hours and overnight and that goes for the southeast as we get into tomorrow, too. we'll also see that heavy rain across portions of of this regions that have seen saturated grounds. rainfall totals not quite as impressive as last go around with this previous storm system, but the snow totals will be. we'll be pushing upwards of a
