The Simpsons’ magnificent parody Itchy and Scratchy during its more than three decade run, Tom and Jerry’s antics haven’t always been to everyone’s tastes. One of the most violent cartoons ever made, it might not have focused on blood and gore like more modern animated shows, but it also completely ignored any lasting (or even temporary) consequences of the various heinous acts the pair inflicted on each other. It also helped establish Hollywood’s clear bias against cats and some of the older 161 shorts feature rather decidedly troublesome stereotypes (particularly if judged by today’s standards).

HOLLYWOOD—I don’t know a kid who was not familiar with the popular animated series “Tom and Jerry” when I grew up. The one with the cat trying to get his clutches on that pesky and clever mouse. After years of entertaining audiences, the dynamic duo has finally made it to the big screen in a live-action version with “Tom and Jerry: The Movie.”
Yes, I will admit seeing animated characters interact with real people was a bit jarring at first, but take the ride because the “Tom and Jerry” movie is a ton of fun. This is an animated movie so kids will thoroughly enjoy it, but there is also something for adults who get to see actual people as well. I could not tell you how stunned I was with the cast for this movie. I mean you have Chloe Grace Moretz, Colin Jost, Michael Pena, Ken Jeong, Rob Delaney, just to name a few. When it comes to voices we have Bobby Cannavale, Lil Rey Howery, Tim Story, as supporting voices for the kooky animals in this pic, while William Hanna, Mel Blanc, June Foray and Frank Welker voice the iconic Tom and Jerry.

Nicholas Jarecki's sophomore feature, after his financial-morality laden "Arbitrage," is a concoction of three story lines about the escalating opioid epidemic, replete with characters involved at disparate points of despondency and grief.
Set in Montreal and Detroit, the film features undercover DEA operative Jake Kelly (Armie Hammer) who is tasked to link a crew of "Armenian power gangsters" with fentanyl smuggled from Montreal. Meanwhile, the fearless cop must also deal with his junkie sister (Lily-Rose Depp) in rehab.
Then, there's Michigan resident Claire Reimann (Evangeline Lilly), a recovering addict whose world suddenly comes crashing down when her son turns up dead from a drug overdose. Overcome with despair and vengeance, she sets out on a personal mission to hunt down those accountable.
