Godzilla Vs Kong remained atop the North American box office in its third weekend of release. The Legendary and Warner Bros movie added another US$7.7 million, boosting its tally to US$80.5 million.

“Godzilla vs. Kong” proved that buzzy new movies can sell tickets, even if they’re already available to watch at home.
After months of new releases bringing in lackluster box office ticket sales, “Godzilla vs. Kong” racked up $48.5 million in its first five days in theaters. It was the best showing, by a landslide, for a movie since the pandemic struck.

At the same time, “Godzilla vs. Kong” was offered on HBO Max, the streaming service owned by WarnerMedia, for no extra charge to subscribers. A monthly subscription to HBO Max costs $15, which is roughly the same price as a single movie ticket in major cities.

Ah, the drive-in movie theater. Let me tell you about Tompkins County’s drive-in history.
The Lakes Car Drive-In was located at 1645 Trumansburg Road. Originally called The Lakes Car Theatre, it opened on July 2, 1957 with “That Certain Feeling,” starring Bob Hope, and Charlton Heston in “Three Violent People.” It began screening more adult movies on June 14, 1972, when it was renamed The Lakes Car Drive-In. I remember seeing family fare when I was a kid, particularly “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory;” the nightmare boat sequence scared the dog out of me, sitting in the back seat of the family Rambler. I also recall the first time I heard cussing in a movie, when my dad took my brother Anthony and me to see “Patton” at the drive-in when my mom was out of town. It closed in 1987 when the screen was struck by lightning. 

There are plenty of safe, socially-distanced events happening this weekend to have some Easter or springtime fun in the area. Head to one of the family-friendly egg hunting events, enjoy being outside at a local farm, or check out a farmers market. More information on these and more below.

Stonetree Golf Club, 1600 Stonetree Drive, Killeen, is hosting the Stonetree Classic Tournament beginning at 8:30 a.m. April 2. This event will include two-person teams, 27 holes, and three formats (Scramble, Best Ball, and Alternate Shot). Price is $60 for members, $75 for guests, and includes greens fee, cart fee, range balls, and lunch. Call 254-501-6575 for more information. The golf club also hosts its Beer and Nine event every Thursday. For $20 per person, this event includes nine holes with a free beer of choice, two-person scramble, and shotgun at 5 p.m.

SEDAN, Kan. (AP) — Greetings from Chautauqua, the only county in Kansas where COVID-19 isn’t an emergency.

Raya And The Last Dragon has topped the box office charts for a second week in a row.
According to Variety , the Disney animated feature brought in another $5.5 million.

The latest Disney animated film has made a total of US$52.6 million globally since its release.

The upcoming film titled 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' arrived 10 days early for some users of the streamer, as per Variety.
Some HBO Max users due to a glitch got an unexpected preview of the four-hour-long superhero movie, which is slated to release on March 18, when they hit play on the new 'Tom and Jerry' film.

Bloodshot (remember that one?) making just over $9 million. This was an important weekend for the country, as it was right around the point when the general public realized that the coronavirus was a real threat (something the federal government didn’t get around to until, oh, halfway through January 2021 for some reason), and whether the people going to see
Onward knew this ahead of time or not, lockdowns for businesses like movie theaters were about to become part of the larger plan to slow the spread of COVID-19. But here we are, almost exactly a year later, and everything is better! Ha ha, no. Not really.

The mega-successful Chinese franchise about a mismatched detective duo tackling baffling crimes in foreign destinations continues with a wildly uneven caper set in Tokyo. With performances, plotting and visuals amped up to 11 as per usual, this hyperactive combination of Sherlock Holmes-type sleuthing and Three Stooges-style slapstick comedy offers plenty of zany fun, but the central murder-mystery contains so many convoluted diversions, digressions and detours it makes the whole enterprise play like a long stream-of-consciousness sketch with a glaringly hollow core.

The Rescuers is frequently cited as one of Disney’s darkest animated movies. At the very least, it has the darkest color palette. The last film to be produced with the thick, scratchy-line style introduced in
