MSNBC All In With Chris Hayes October 26, 2019 00:06:00

Do you think you ll see as result? well, a couple of things as you know the i think ultimately the house was engaged and is engaged in an inquiry. and therefore under rule 6e had the right to these as the committee did proceed. i think you got the context right at the beginning of the program but it s important for this victory not to be seen through a partisan lens. it s ultimatehy a win for the american people. it was a major victory for the constitution and fundamental rule of law in our country for judge howell to ultimately conclude what we all knew to be true which was the house was engaged and is engaged in an impeachment inquiry. and these ludicrous process arguments made by republicans are really untenable. and i think the fact judge howell rejected these prfrivolo ....

Senate in the house intelligence committee this weekend, by the republican members of the house, the ground was, you know, the house of representatives has not issued a resolution saying that the impeachment investigation should proceed. judge howell very specifically says, you don t need a resolution. that many impeachments have gone forward without resolutions. so, you know, the process arguments, which have been the core of the republican objection so far, seem to be falling away. and judge howell s decision is very much a weapon in getting rid of those. it s also a great reminder to the administration and the white house, wolf, that there is a third branch of government twhathat wants that has a say in some of this stuff. this has been a fight between congress and the white house and it s a great reminder that there s a third branch. and judges in new york and here in d.c. have been reminding the white house that, hey, you know, there is a process here. and you don t exactly ....

Why are you interviewing witnesses without republicans in the room? and they have had equal time to question it. why not have this open to the public? why not have this open to the republicans? having prosecuted a lot of cases myself, i know when the defense doesn t have the facts or the law, they attack the process. in this case that s what republicans have. if they don t have the facts on their side or the law on their side and their process arguments are quite silly. more than an investigation stage of this, you would never interview a witness in front of a tv camera in public. that would be crazy. what you do is you do these witness interviews behind closed doors. if there s enough to go forward, you make it public. there s enough to go forward. we re going to make this all public likely in november. likely in november. sources telling cnn the justice department will review is now itself a criminal investigation. what do you make of this? special counsel mueller ....

There is a time and a place to have behind-the-scenes interviews done by lawyers and members of congress. but the whole investigation thus far shouldn t be behind closed doors. i think if democrats open it up, let us all have the respect, the american people and the members of congress, see the testimony, and make judgments for themselves, not based on just leaks, but based on the actual testimony. i think the american people will be better off. democrats will be better off. the president will be better off. this will be a process that we could all buy into. but when you close it off, then you get these process arguments because we don t have all the information. i think we re entitled. to we deserve all of the information. charlie does, you do, anderson, and i do, and so do the american people. i hope adam schiff opens it up and we can have a transparent process, american-style, not sovi soviet-style. i don t think you ll find anybody in the press who does not want public hearings s ....
