Van berkum says the patrol is planning an advertisement blitz to attract candidates to a Law Enforcement academy next year. Where he hopes to see a graduating class of up to 25 new troopers something he hopes to start doing annually. Our goal is every year, and hopefully do it in the springtime, graduating, thats when high schools are getting out, that way people will know that Law Enforcement is holding an academy, so they can prepare their resumes knowing that we are going to have an academy. This is really an important challenge because i have not had as much experience making laws as the folks at this table, but i have tried to enforce them over the years. Making a statute enforceable is a real art. Part of it depends on crafting a penalty that is realistic and enforceable. My sense is that we still have work to do on the penalties under title ix first because the penalty hence the students more than anyone else. It is, right now, very draconian for all those reasons it probably will be enforced. It would be nice to have a statute that was often force in. Really this out to be an area where it should be because the universities of to be eager to be complying with the standards and expectations that title ix creates.
