HPE CEO Antonio Neri Wednesday told shareholders at the company’s virtual annual meeting that that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing more customers to embrace the hybrid cloud IT as-a-service model.
“Customers are looking for the agility and simplicity of the cloud, but need the flexibility and control of a hybrid business model – and increasingly want to consume IT as-a-service where we have a unique and differentiated value proposition,” said Neri. “This is why I remain more committed than ever to our edge-to-cloud platform as-a-service vision ....

Dell Technologies announces new server lineup for its PowerEdge portfolio

The new PowerEdge R6515 features 3rd Generation AMD EPYC processors and accelerates data processing capabilities by up to 60% in big data Hadoop databases, according to Dell.
Meanwhile, the new PowerEdge R750, with the upcoming 3rd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, delivers up to 43% greater performance to computational-heavy workloads. The new Dell EMC PowerEdge XE8545 and R750xa are accelerator-optimized for data-intensive workloads, Dell said.
The portfolio also includes the new Intel-based PowerEdge XR11 and XR12 ruggedized servers that Dell said offers enterprise performance and security in a durable form factor for edge-based workloads.
Dell is also highlighting its flexible on-demand pricing model via Project Apex, as well as the Dell Technologies Cloud Console, which serves as the control layer for multi-cloud deployments and procuring on-premise gear managed by Dell as a service. Dell said the new lineup of PowerEdge servers are available with Flex ....

Michael Dell: 'Stronger' VMware integrations, PC growth ahead - Hardware

Dell Technologies record-breaking US$94.2 billion fiscal year 2021 is just the beginning, according to company founder and CEO Michael Dell, with bullish plans in store for this year including an upcoming server launch.
“We have a pretty big server announcement coming up with respect to PowerEdge and our 15th generation here very soon. We’re excited about that,” said Dell in an interview with CRN.
The infrastructure and PC giant increased its total annual revenue by 2 percent to US$94.2 billion in fiscal year 2021, which ended Jan. 29, as Dell Technologies weathered the global COVID-19 pandemic better than many critics expected. Dell’s PC business delivered record annual sales of US$48.4 billion as the company is flourishing in the new remote work and remote learning era. ....
