Quincy Wright charges dismissed due to conflicting evidence

ROCKFORD — Winnebago County State's Attorney J. Hanley has dismissed murder charges against Quincy Wright due to contradicting evidence, he said Tuesday during a news conference. The charges stemmed from a shooting at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 25, 2018, near Eighth Street and Broadway. Three people were shot and only one survived. Chiyara Nelson, 25, and Shawnquez Edwards, 29, both of Rockford, were killed in the shooting.  Wright was charged Dec. 19, 2018, with several counts of first-degree murder and weapons charges based on the testimony of one witness who says they saw him on the sidewalk adj...
