Chris Putnam/Future Publishing via Getty ImagesDef Leppard has jumped on the viral “Of Course” TikTok trend, where folks share stereotypes about their professions, race, gender and more.In a post on Instagram, each member of the band shares what they seem to think is an obvious fact about the group. It starts off with bassist Rick Savage, who says, “We’re Def Leppard and of course we’ve played with Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Queen.”The band teamed up with Taylor for a 2008 episode of CMT Crossroads, while they preformed with Miley at the September 2022 Los Angeles tribute concert for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins and with Queen at the 1992 Freddie Mercury tribute concert in London.Savage was followed by guitarist Phil Collen, who shared, “Of course we play three continents in a day,” referring to their October 23, 1995, shows in Morocco, England and Canada. Drummer Rick Allen, who lost his arm in a 1985 car accident, shared a fact about himself, noting, “Of course I play drums with my feet,” while guitarist Vivian Campbell added a crack about their longevity, sharing, “Of course we’re your mother’s favorite band.” Def Leppard's frontman, Joe Elliott, wraps up the video by noting, “We’re Def Leppard, of course, we’re playing stadiums this summer. All summer.”That stadium tour he's referring to is the band’s upcoming co-headlining tour with Journey, which kicks off July 6 in St. Louis. The tour also features special guests Steve Miller Band, Heart and Cheap Trick. A complete list of dates can be found at defleppard.com.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.

ABC/Michael DesmondKISS recently announced they’ve sold their music catalog, as well as their brand name and likeness rights, to Swedish entertainment company Pophouse. But Gene Simmons wants fans to know this doesn’t mean he and bandmate Paul Stanley will no longer be in control of what happens with the band.“Nothing is being handed off,” the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer tells ABC Audio. “A mother may give birth to a child, but you never stop being a mother whether the child gets married or not.” He adds, “I'm proud to say that Paul and I have met kindred spirits in Pophouse. Creative dynamic visionaries, really.”Pophouse is the company behind ABBA’s Voyages hologram show. It will be the company developing KISS’ upcoming avatar show, planned for 2027, and Simmons is confident fans will be blown away by the final product.“Let me just say that we are at the forefront and are going to be doing things that are already in development, like nothing people have ever seen or heard,” he says. “You won't believe, I'm telling you, no hype. You won't believe what's going to happen.”And despite KISS saying goodbye to the road in December, Simmons insists there's still a lot more fans can expect from the band. “I mean, the end of KISS is the beginning of KISS,” Gene says, noting that embracing all this technology is going to be a big part of keeping the legacy alive for old and new fans. He explains that the plan is to use artificial intelligence to “control and keep intact our personas,” sharing, “You don't want the beginning of KISS in this new world to become something unrecognizable to what it originally was.”Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. ABC/Randy HolmesU2 has donated a prize package of merch from their Las Vegas residency, U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere, to raise money for a trio of Irish charities. The package includes a poster, two T-shirts and a pair of “Bono Fly Sunglasses,” as well as a tour program, which they say features “a very rare collection of signatures.” It’s rare because in addition to Bono, The Edge and Adam Clayton, it includes the signature of drummer Bram van den Berg, who filled in for Larry Mullen Jr. during the residency. The package is one of the many items up for grabs at the Lord Mayor’s Charity Auction in Dublin, which is part of the upcoming Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball, taking place April 27. The auction is raising money for Breast Cancer Ireland, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and the mental health charity A Lust For Life.U2 isn’t the only artist to donate an auction item. Also up for grabs are Gold Circle tickets to Rod Stewart's May 26 concert in Dublin, complete with hotel accommodations; four tickets to see Bryan Adams in Dublin on May 21, with a hotel stay; and two tickets to see Bruce Springsteen at his show at Dublin’s Croke Park on May 19.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. Hulton Archive/Getty ImagesA new film about Buddy Holly is in the works, and it’s now snagged a director.Variety reports that Mario Van Peebles is set to direct That’ll Be the Day, which will focus on Holly and his fellow musicians of the 1950s, detailing how their music influenced society and culture.“America’s tumultuous cultural melting pot has produced transcendent musical talent, including Buddy Holly, who was our first bad a** rock ’n’ roll nerd,” Van Peebles, who previously directed New Jack City and the recently released Outlaw Posse, shares about the project. The film’s screenplay was written by Patrick Shanahan and Matthew Benjamin. Benjamin produced the 1987 biopic La Bamba, about singer Richie Valens, who died alongside Holly and J.P. Richardson, aka The Big Bopper, in the 1959 plane crash. That'll Be the Day appears to have backing by the Buddy Holly estate. BMG, the company that manages the estate and controls the rights to the singer’s music catalog, is providing early funding for the film.Copyright © 2024, ABC Audio. All rights reserved.
