Fayette vaccine clinic appointment information
Fayette County’s vaccine task force continues to accept appointment requests for all residents via the county registry at fayettecountypa.org, or by calling 724-430-3900.
Registrants will receive vaccine through one of the countyâs clinics or through a partnering pharmacy provider. The county has also started working with EMS to vaccinate homebound individuals.
Excela vaccine clinic open to all
Excela Health has opened its COVID-19 vaccine clinic to all area residents 18 and older. The clinic is giving the two-dose Moderna vaccine.
Individuals may register online via the Excela Health web site, ExcelaHealth.org, or call 724-689-1690 between 8 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday.

Red Cross in desperate need of donors: 'The need for blood is constant'

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- ABC7 and the American Red Cross are partnering to urge Bay Area residents to donate blood in January for National Blood Donor Month.
"The need for blood is constant," said Justin Mueller, regional executive of donor services for the American Red Cross Northern California coastal region. "That's the same that we always had pre-COVID. It holds very true today."
According to Mueller, about 25 percent of Red Cross blood drives were at colleges and high schools prior to the coronavirus pandemic. Distance learning ended that opportunity.

Blood donors can help those disproportionately affected by COVID-19 including sickle cell patients. Amid this coronavirus pandemic, the Red Cross has seen a significant decrease in African American and Latinx blood donors. Blood transfused to patients with rare blood types, like those with sickle cell disease, must be matched very closely to reduce the risk of complications, and these patients are more likely to find a compatible blood match from a blood donor of the same race or similar ethnicity.

Crystal Lake community holds blood drive to help those in need, pays tribute to McHenry County Deputy Jacob Keltner

CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (WLS) -- The Crystal Lake community helped those in need while paying tribute to Jacob Keltner, a McHenry County sheriff's deputy who was killed serving an arrest warrant nearly two years ago.
"It means a lot to me and my family that the community continues to support us. We have over 350 people signed up today, so we're going to do some good. We're going to save some lives today," said Becki Keltner, Jacob's widow.
Becki said donating blood is a meaningful tribute to her late husband because it provided support to her own family in that of loss.
