Labor day, we have an accident blocking all lanes on broad street in center city. 10th and south an accident here. As well as the cleanup going on this morning with the made in america festival last night. Spring garden westbound they have temporarily blocked all lanes before the schuylkill. Expect the lanes to be blocked. Its just temporary i think they will be opening up shortly. Police scanners indicate as many as 5 people were being held. Now the whole incident started as high speed chase. Police chased the carjacking suspect for nearly an hour. Weaving through freeway and side streets as you can see. At one point the man crashed his vehicle then ran on foot into the restaurant. So far no one has been injured. The incident closed the Fourth Street bridge and the lefty o doule bridge for a while, while the man was swimming in the water. Police launched a jet ski and a small boat. The man then climbed on to a badly damaged pier. Eventually he surrendered about 7 00. As it was getting dark.
