On Monday, Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to Caras Park because a male was allegedly assaulted and was lying on the ground unresponsive. Officers arrived and made contact with a witness who said a male swung a white pole and threw punches at another male. She was not sure what the white object was. Police Public Information Officer Lydia Arnold explains. “Ronald Gallagher was arrested for assault with a weapon,” Arnold said. “Officers had responded to Caras Park at around 1:15 a.m. for a report of a physical disturbance. In the initial 911 call, the caller reported a male was on the ground with injuries. Medical arrived on scene and tended to the injured male. His medical condition is unknown. In the preliminary investigation, officers were able to locate a blunt object used in the assault, speak to witnesses, and collect evidence. Ronald Gallagher is being held at the Missoula County Detention Center.” ....
