After the stresses of the global pandemic, an opportunity was presented to share unique cultures with one another and to cheer on brothers and sisters of the BYU–Hawaii ohana from all over the world. The nine chapters that presented their dances at Culture Night 2021 were met with enthusiasm from cheers and smiles from the crowd. The gratitude from the students and faculty participating in the event was unmistakable.
Vice President of Student Life Jonathan Kalaonalani Kau said at the event that for President John S.K. Kauwe III, this was a momentous occasion because it was his first Culture Night. Additionally, Culture Night 2021 was the first large-scale event hosted by BYUH since the beginning of the pandemic.

The
Hawkesbury-based horseman was elated to secure a run in the $3 million mile feature, after his mare was initially balloted out of the race due to losing two rating points for her fourth-placed effort in last Saturday’s Group 2
Emancipation Stakes.
“It was a bit disappointing that she lost rating points for running fourth in a Group 2 beaten 1.3l, running the fastest last 600 metres of the race from the widest gate. It was a bit of a head-scratcher, to be honest,” Widdup told

Severe flooding hit Oahu's North Shore on Tuesday, swamping homes and roads.
HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A broad evacuation order for Haleiwa town was lifted late Tuesday as the threat of “catastrophic flooding” from torrential rains subsided.
While the heavy rains started to let up by early evening, water levels in swollen waterways were slower to recede — and authorities warned severe flooding was still a possibility.
The order was lifted about 11:30 p.m. — seven hours after it was issued.
A flash flood warning that was in effect for much of the day also expired around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. But with the ground so saturated, National Weather Service forecasters warned that any rains could trigger flooding.

Group One trial for Drum Major at Palmerston North on Saturday

“It’s quite a good field. There are a lot of hopes in that race on Saturday.
“If he runs well we will decide whether we go to the Sistema or the Sires. He may be a champagne (listed, 1600m) horse, but we will just play it by ear.”
Another Rogerson runner in line for a Group One assignment is talented but erratic filly Ezdara.
The daughter of Sacred Falls was pulled up last start by jockey Jasmine Fawcett after veering wide ahead of the crossing after leading early.
“She spotted the gap and wanted to run out,” Rogerson said.
