The series is produced by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi and makes its US debut next month.
The What We Do In the Shadows spin-off show Wellington Paranormal has a confirmed US premiere date. The series will premiere on The CW on July 11 and hit HBO Max the following day.
There have been three seasons of Wellington Paranormal to date, but it had not previously aired in the US. Season 1 premiered in New Zealand in 2018, while Season 3 arrived earlier this year.
Wellington Paranormal is produced by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi. Like the What We Do In the Shadows movie and subsequent show, it s a mockumentary, and it focuses on officers Minogue (Mike Minogue) and Leary (Karen O’Leary), members of Wellington s paranormal unit who investigate supernatural occurrences in the town under the supervision of Sergeant Maaka (Maaka Pohatu). Minogue and O’Leary previously played the characters in the Shadows movie.

Wellington Paranormal's Mike Minogue talks strange fan encounters

If there is any conversation in the supermarket aisles, it’s usually because he initiates it.
“Generally it’s me that goes over to them or I stay and keep my distance and wave and say, ‘Gidday’,” says Minogue.
“You can see what’s on their mind because it doesn’t really make sense that Officer Minogue is not wearing a uniform and is buying chicken-free chicken at the supermarket.
“Or equally am I (Officer Minogue) undercover and am I in danger? That’s been really awesome.”

How Wellington Paranormal's Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi wooed the world

The first time Jemaine Clement took his humour out of the Wellington crucible where it was formed he didn’t exactly have to beat the fans off with a stick.
It was 1998, and Clement, Taika Waititi (both then 21 years old) and Bret McKenzie (who was just 19), with fellow performers Carey Smith and David Lawrence, had brought their show

Wellington Paranormal: TVNZ's most entertaining law enforcement series is back

REVIEW: “Policing. It’s not always better work stories.”
Officer O’Leary (Karen O’Leary) makes this shock admission as the beloved team of New Zealand’s
Wellington Paranormal unit return our screens for a third season of investigations and hijinks on Wednesday evening (8.30pm, TVNZ2 and then at TVNZ OnDemand).
Her exasperation comes as she, Office Minogue (Mike Minogue) and Sergeant Maaka (Maaka Pohatu) face one of their toughest cases yet.
Called to a suspected breaking and entering in Lower Hutt just before midnight, the two officers firstly attempted to calm the frightened homeowners down (“Don’t believe everything you hear, I read that you could put your phone in the microwave to recharge,” Minogue informs them, while producing evidence in the form of his twisted, mangled iPhone4), the pair then enter the dwelling to discover the fridge in a state, with food strewn across the kitchen.
