We start with that attempted attack in the heart of new york city. Multiple officials confirm to nbc news that this photo is the suspect, akayed ullah. During a press conference about an hour ago we learned three people were just trying to take the subway this morning now have lifethreatening injuries. The suspect is seriously injured, as well. Officials say he had a lowtech device strapped to his body with velcro and zip ties. The device went off inside of a subway terminal just after 7 00 this morning. Mayor bill de blasio had a strong message. When we hear of an attack on the subway its incredibly unsettling and lets be also clear this was an attempted terrorist attack. Thank god that he did not Officials Say the suspect was inspired by the islamic state, but had apparently not had any direct contact with the terror group.
