<p>Mass General Brigham researchers are reporting new evidence on the effectiveness of cocoa flavanol supplements for cognition. In a randomized controlled clinical trial of 573 people, the researchers found that older adults who had unhealthy diets and took daily cocoa extract supplements containing 500 mg/day of cocoa flavanols experienced cognitive benefits. Cognitive benefits however were not seen in participants who already had healthy dietary patterns.
