House speaker appeals rescuers to evacuate KRI Nanggala-402's sailors

This mission's main priority is saving the 53 submariners Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani has appealed to all parties involving in a search mission to do their utmost endeavors to locate Indonesia's KRI Nanggala-402, and evacuate 53 sailors on board.
"Our best prayers are with all patriots on board of the KRI Nanggala-402. May the submarine be located, and all sailors on board are found alive," she said in a press statement that ANTARA quoted in Jakarta on Sunday.

All 53 crew members of the Indonesian Navy submarine that went missing last week have been confirmed dead, officials announced today.
Search crews had been operating under the assumption that the vessel had sunk after debris, including parts of a torpedo straightener, were found floating in the water yesterday.
At a media conference today, Indonesian Air Chief Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said the warship Rigel had scanned the area around the debris using sonar and a magnetometer, After which a remote operated vehicle was sent to take images underwater.

Scott Morrison sends condolences to Indonesia after missing military submarine was found


Australia has sent condolences to Indonesia after a submarine sunk 53 crew on board.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison contacted Indonesian President Joko Widodo after the vessel was found in three pieces at the bottom of the Bali sea, hundreds of metres beyond its diving range.
All of its crew have died, including Indonesia's submarine fleet commander, Harry Setiawan.
'Deepest sympathies to President Jokiwi and all our Indonesian friends on the loss of KRI Nanggala,' Mr Morrison said on Sunday night.
