Yathindra, son of Siddaramaiah, stated that a strong performance by the Congress party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka would allow Siddaramaiah to remain as Chief Minister for a full five-year term. After winning the Assembly elections last year, Siddaramaiah became Chief Minister, despite competition from D K Shivakumar.
