　　而马斯克则从小有一个登陆火星的梦想。在2016年他就公布了火星移民计划：在40-100年内，以每人10万美元的低成本，将10万人送往火星，建立火星城市。
　　不过航天事业需要巨大的投入，可不是光靠梦想就能支撑起来的。资料显示，贝索斯每年至少投入10亿美元在蓝色起源的发展上，布兰森过去17年里也先后在维珍银河上投入了超10亿美元资金。
　　当然，商业航天有着诱人的市场前景。航天行业咨询公司NSR预计，到2028年亚轨道市场价值将达到28亿美元，未来十年总收入将达到104亿美元。
　　前景虽好，想要从这个赛道上分得一杯羹也绝非易事。
　　2000年9月8日，贝索斯创立蓝色起源，彼时亚马逊仅成立6周年，但已经让贝索斯拥有了60亿美元的净资产。可以说，是亚马逊的成功让贝索斯有了启动蓝色资源的底气和资本。
　　在过去20多年的发展中，蓝色起源的主要资金来源一直是贝索斯的私人投入。根据此前媒体的报道，贝索斯每年会出售约10亿美元的亚马逊股票，投资到蓝色起源的发展中。
　　外界知道的唯一一次外来资金注入来自于NASA。2020年4月底，由蓝色起源与其他3家航天科技公司共同组成的团队曾获得NASA 5.79亿美元的着陆器开发资金，其中蓝色起源负责开发下降舱。但在价值高达29亿美元的月球着陆器制造合同竞标中，蓝色起源最终不敌SpaceX。
　　多年来，贝索斯和马斯克一直在航天事业探索方面较劲。两人曾为谁能使用肯尼迪航天中心的发射台与回收火箭相关的专利等事情发生过争执。
　　维珍银河目前也处于烧钱阶段。维珍银河成立于2004年，在过去的17年间，布兰森向维珍银河投资了超过10亿美元资金。但财报显示，公司2019年总营收仅为380万美元，全年亏损则达到2.109亿美元。
　　2019年10月，维珍银河通过SPAC上市，市值达到15亿美元。在之后的6个月里，其股价涨幅一度达到300%，但今年以来，其股价一直处于剧烈的波动之中。
　　5月，维珍银河曾披露将延迟飞行测试的消息，股价一度跌至15美元以下。之后在5月24日，即公司完成载人试飞后的第一个交易日，维珍银河股价上涨了28%。6月公司获得美国联邦航空管理局的载客许可，这一消息推动维珍银河股价在6月底上涨了39%，直接飙升至55美元以上。
　　7月11日的太空飞行，让公司股价在7月12日盘前大涨7%。但随后公司宣布欲出售价值5亿元的普通股股票，股价应声大跌超17%，创最大单日跌幅。
　　7月20日贝索斯完成太空之旅当天，维珍银河股价在低开后迅速下行，盘中一度跌破30美元，跌幅超过8%，收盘时跌幅缩窄至1.14%，报32.03美元。值得注意的是，过去一周维珍银河股价已连续下跌，虽然近两天有所回涨，但较7月12日收盘价已跌去超20%。
　　据媒体报道，维珍银河目前已经售出了大约600张机票，每张价格在20万-25万美元之间。不过，尽管抢先对手试飞成功，但在正式开展太空旅行业务之前，维珍银河仍需对这架太空飞机进行至少两次测试飞行。
　　与蓝色起源和维珍银河聚焦的亚轨道旅行不同，马斯克的SpaceX专注的是旅程更远、时间更长、花费也更高的轨道旅行。
　　2020年5月31日，SpaceX载人龙飞船搭乘猎鹰9号运载火箭在美国成功发射，这是人类首次商业载人航天发射。这也让SpaceX拿下了NASA数十亿美元的订单，定期负责将美国宇航员送入国际太空站。
　　除此之外，SpaceX还联手太空初创公司Axiom，将开启纯载人航天项目。
