Avoid the Tacolandia Ticket Price Increase

Editor's note 02.18.21:
Because of the cold weather and loss of power, the Houston Press is extending its lower price offer through Monday, February 22. Higher prices will go into effect Tuesday, February 23.
Original Story:
On March 2, the all new
Houston Press Tacolandia Taco Stop will gear up, offering ticket holders the chance to pick up some great tacos from Houston area restaurants at Silver Street Studios from 4-8 p.m. that day.
And now, making the deal even better, today through
Friday, February 19,  Monday February 22, ticket prices for Tacolandia will remain at $29 but as of
this Saturday Tuesday, February 23 and moving forward prepare to pay more. And why would you want to do that?

(Note: We’re revisiting some of Brian Reinhart’s picks for our annual list of Top 100 Dallas Restaurants to see how they're faring in what we hope are the final months of the pandemic.) Falafel. Crab cakes. Buffalo wings. Paneer. Escargot. They’re the foods of half the world, and they have...

Some might say the foundation of a great taco is the tortilla. When Luis Perez opened Tortilleria La Norteña in Oak Cliff in 2014, he wanted to make a tortilla that reminded him of those his mom served him as a kid in the Northern Mexico state of Sonora, which has...

First Look: Tacos Bites & Beats Opens in the Design District

Anthony Macias
We also had the bistek and carnitas tacos on corn tortillas. The carnitas was the favorite of the three; it was cooked just right and was not fatty or greasy. They serve two different salsas made in-house by chef Jorge Castellanos that are what they call the “green to-go” and the “red to the head.” The red did prove to be spicy.
Tacos, Bites & Beats will have Taco Tuesday specials and sell the tacos for $1, which include the bistek, carnitas, chicken tinga and paneer tacos.
It's set up for to-go orders only, but there is plenty of counter space and tables set up at a safer distance for dining outside. So if you are driving by, walking your dog or riding your bike (there is a bike rack for bike parking) stop by and grab some tacos.

It’s like Deja Vu: local Mexican restaurant chain Taco Stop MKE is moving into a commercial space previously leased by Fuji Poke.
For the second time in a year, Taco Stop is expanding, and it’s once again leasing space that was previously leased by Fuji Poke.
The new location, 1426 E. Brady St., is in the Brady Place strip mall. The 1,230-square-foot stall was most recently leased by the poke restaurant. Apparently, a Fuji Poke makes the perfect place for a Taco Stop.

Taco News Roundup: New Churro Shops Come to Austin and San Antonio

COVID-19 has forced
Rosario’s owner Lisa Wong to put a renovation on hold. But the longtime restaurateur continues with her plans to transform the old El Mirador property into another outpost of her San Antonio institution.
The pandemic also forced the postponement of Mexico City’s second annual
Coca-Cola Metate taco festival. No new date for the event has been set.
Ancient Heirloom Grains is the state’s newest heirloom Mexican corn molinero and tortilleria. The company set up shop this month in San Antonio.

South Padre Island food trucks, including vegetarian taco stand
Chile de Árbol, now have more freedom to operate. According to the Institute for Justice, a legal nonprofit that represented the food truck owners, “[The Cameron County] district court ruled that the city violated the Texas Constitution when it forced food truck owners to get permission from local restaurant owners before being eligible for a food truck permit, and by making it illegal for more than twelve food trucks to open for business on the island.”
