Chalfont St Peter retirees raise £1,000 for Thames Valley Adventure Playground

The Lavender Ladies handing over the cheque
Three OAPs dubbed the Lavender Ladies have raised £1,000 for charity.
Verena Closs, 74, Jacki Crittenden, 72, and Audrey Marland, 90, who all live at a retirement village in Chalfont St Peter, used their crafting skills to harvest lavender bushes to make lavender bags, beeswax candles, and bookmarks to sell to friends, family, and fellow retirees.
The ladies are part of the Audley Chalfont Dene craft club at the retirement village – and what started off as a hobby soon became an opportunity to give back as they donated all proceeds the Thames Valley Adventure Playground, which aims to create a safe and stimulating but fun environment where children and adults with special needs can play.

Legendary Slough sugar company's Adventure Playground gift

Welcome donation will help Thames Valley Adventure Playground through pandemic
A family company that has been part of Slough's social fabric for more than 90 years has teamed up with the Thames Valley Adventure Playground, to help it continue providing a haven for children and adults with disabilities.
The sugar manufacturers Ragus have been on Slough Trading Estate since 1928. The company has just donated over £1,000 to the Taplow based Playground.
Corporate social responsibility manager Henry Eastick said: "We are and always have been a family and community orientated business. The idea of donating the funds to continue helping our local community came from Ragus’ previous Managing Director, my Grandfather Ronald Eastick.

'Tree of Hope' raises £1000 for local charities

The fundraising initiative was launched this year by the Marlow Thames Rotary Club alongside Marlow Town Council.
With the tree itself raising just over £900 the Marlow Thames Rotary Club agreed to round the sum up to £1000 and pay for all of the setup costs.
As a result of donations, £200 will be made to each of the following charities: The Marlow Mayor’s charity, Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice, South Bucks Hospice, Thames Valley Adventure Playground, and Marlow Age Concern.
Marlow Town Mayor, Richard Scott, was thrilled by the support shown by the public and hopes the tree will make a comeback in future years.
