Reading into motherhood: Honoring our book-loving moms
If you were lucky, you grew up with books. If you were really lucky, you grew up with a mom who read to you. Listen. Hear her voice now. The soothing voice while you were home sick, or scared of monsters under your bed at night, or worried about school the next day, or thunder that boomed outside, when you were crying over a scraped knee, dropped ice cream, broken toys, goldfish belly-up. If you were lucky, your mom was there with a kiss on the band-aid, a calming distraction, a soothing story that swept away the tears and fears of tomorrow.
