Twitter Will Now Enable Select Creators, Journalists, And Nonprofits To Accept Tips Twitter has unveiled a new feature in order to help get its creators paid. The company started rolling out Tip Jars yesterday, writing in its blog that Twitter users already frequently share their PayPal or Venmo handles after a Tweet goes viral or they’re soliciting aid. Now, this capability has been integrated natively. Wednesday, January 27, 2021 On January 19, 2021, eight states (Delaware, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania), along with the District of Columbia, filed a lawsuit seeking to enjoin the Tip Regulations Final Rule published by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in late December 2020. The Final Rule, which currently is scheduled to become effective in early March, focuses primarily on two things: (1) implementing the Congressional amendment to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) that permits tip sharing between “back of the house” employees ( e.g. cooks and bussers) and “front of the house” employees ( e.g. servers) if a tip credit is not taken, while expressly prohibiting managers and supervisors (as defined in the Final Rule) from sharing in tips; and (2) rejecting the so-called “80/20 Rule” limiting the time tipped employees may spend performing allegedly non-tipped duties. Missing the point here because it s not about tip jars or the computer word says give me a tip. you just gave me a cup of coffee. it s about restaurants who are battling i think in some ways to transfer their labor costs to you, the diner or consumer. these are people going out to dinner who can afford a good dinner and the question is if you get bad service and you ve gone to a nice tablecloth restaurant, are you obligated to tip 20%? what the paper was saying, an interesting argument, was that if you have a bad day at work, if jesse and i are arguing in the boss is upstairs saying juan and jesse, why are you arguing? do they say were not going to pay what we normally pay you? no. we get paid. greg: they should.
