Now, blood donation in Mysuru hit by rumours over adverse vaccine effect | Mysuru News

Photo for representative purpose only
MYSURU: As if the pandemic wasn’t enough, blood banks and organisers of blood donation camps now face another problem: Rumours surrounding the Covid-19 vaccine.
When Covid hit and cases peaked, blood donation was badly impacted as very few people were willing to visit blood banks or hospitals for fear of the virus. As a result, patients who needed blood faced a hard time.
Now, with the inoculation drive in progress, blood banks are facing a similar challenge. What is adding confusion is different rules followed by various blood banks.
Some blood banks are advising donors not to donate within the first 90 days of receiving the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Karnataka: Mysuru businessman cheated by woman after befriending him on Facebook | Mysuru News

MYSURU: It was a brief friendship, the end of which was, in many ways anti-climactic.
Ravikumar B, a 28-year-old businessman in Mysuru, was duped of Rs 1.7 lakh in cash and 4,85g of gold a mere three weeks after he befriended Megha, 25, on Facebook.
Although Megha was subsequently arrested in Bengaluru, whether or not Ravikumar recovers his money remains to be seen, since the money and ornaments he was robbed off are reportedly not with her or missing.
On Facebook, Megha posed as the only daughter of a wealthy man who owned multiple fuel stations, bars and restaurants. They exchanged phone numbers and began interacting with each other regularly. By uploading photographs of another woman, Megha convinced Ravikumar of her being a beautiful woman. The two were soon talking of getting married. Megha then asked Ravikumar Rs 1.5 lakh, which she said was to help him buy a SUV car for his birthday. She later convinced his mother to lend her jewellery so that she could have replicas made for the wedding.

Karnataka: Rs 25 lakh fine for giving up seat in MBBS admissions | Mysuru News

Medical education minister K Sudhakar on Monday told the council that the government is doing this to crack down on the seat blocking scam that crops up every year.
BENGALURU: The state government has decided to increase the fine from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 25 lakh for MBBS course students who surrender their seats during counselling. This will come into effect from the next academic year.
Medical education minister K Sudhakar on Monday told the council that the government is doing this to crack down on the seat blocking scam that crops up every year.
He was replying to a question by ruling BJP member N Ravikumar. Explaining the modus operandi, the minister said private medical college managements get meritorious candidates clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and block seats by paying the fee to the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). They surrender them after the final mop-up round of counselling. The surrendered seats are later added to the management quota of private medical colleges which sell them for huge sums of money.

The duo’s modus operandi was simple: Shankar and Manju posed as officers from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and collected money from unsuspecting people to the tune of crores of rupees with the promise of RBI bonds at a higher value. Among those taken in by the duo included retired professors and local businessmen. Acting on a tip-off, CCB sleuths were able to apprehend both of them, who allegedly had plans to design to get nearly 40 more people to invest in their phony scheme.

Karnataka: Owners who part with parcels will get 45% developed land | Mysuru News

KIADB will now hand over 10,738 sqft (per acre) of developed land to owners instead of 9,583 sqft.
BENGALURU: Though land acquisitions have grown exponentially in the 2020-2021 fiscal, the government seems to be finding it tough to reach its target of acquiring at least 43,000 acres to create an industrial land bank. To sweeten the deal for owners, it has increased their share of compensatory developed land by around 1,200 square feet per acre.
As per data made available by the government in the 2020-21 economic survey, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board managed to acquire 1,758 acres in 2019-20 vis-a-vis 2,423 acres in 2018-19. The current fiscal of 2020-21 has seen KIADB acquire 3,862 acres.
