Richmond and Zetland Harriers ready for take off

AFTER the phenomenal success of the first ever "Big Flat Runway races" last year, the event was back again this year at Elvington in York on Sunday, April 25.
With several distances for athletes to choose from, Richmond and Zetland Harriers' Joseph Smith tackled the half marathon and had a great run to finish 18th overall, second V35 in 1:25:21 (PB).
The same day, Stefanos Stephanou travelled to Cumbria for the Kirkbride Half Marathon. Stefanos was over the moon with his time, finishing fifth overall in 1:14:32 (PB).

Richmond and Zetland Harriers pay tribute to Dan Upton

JUST as training and time trial type races were gathering momentum for members of Richmond and Zetland Harriers, the second lockdown brought another abrupt halt to matters.
During the lockdown, club members paid tribute to Dan Upton, who died suddenly at home aged 45. He will be remembered as an athlete who would have a go at any event and will be thoroughly missed at the competitions he took part in throughout the country. Dan was a former decathlete who competed for the Harriers as a junior then re-joined the club again two years ago to concentrate on trying to throw things, to varying degrees of success (in his own words).
