Whew, boy! Fishin's hot, if you can stand the heat. One way to beat it is by joining Florida's 150,000+ lobster divers in the Keys or in Southwest Florida's offshore waters.
Almost as sure are bountiful blessings of piscatorial playtime, offshore, inshore, and in fresh water as well. What's more (or less) is the report of no red tide anywhere in the state.
December 18 fishing report from Byron Stout Reset Alex Henderson and his friend, Antulio, caught this uncommon fat snook Sunday in the mouth of the Caloosahatchee River. What made the even event rarer was . . . A second fat snook (Centropomus parallelus). The all-tackle record for fat snook is 10 pounds, 14 ounces, from Brazil. Florida doesn’t list a state record for fat snook, only common snook. Photos courtesy Lehr’s Economy Tackle. NC State junior Avery Bishop’s snook was one of 35 caught in four days of fishing last week in Blind Pass with his dad, Mark, and cousin. Bob Diersing reports Capt. Chris Foust’s redfish sniffed out his cut ladyfish bait in two feet of water at Foster’s Point, in Pine Island Sound.
