Cockpit. maybe a tire fire so the pilots put on their masks, they re pulling circuit breakers, i guess, to try to isolate where this electrical fire is coming from which then cascades, shuts down the transponder and the radios. go. what do you think of that? well, i think that s a little bit far fetched. certainly based on the last radio communication that was received, it didn t seem like they were in any sort of distress. when you put on the oxygen mask and then attempt to talk on the radio, there s a significant change in the audio quality because you re talking through a mask rather than through the air to the microphone. so while they would normally attempt to communicate with the outside world if that were the case, it doesn t seem like there was any attempt to make a communication that way. mary, you disagree? well, no, i don t disagree. i think there are so many different scenarios. over the years in different ....

also new information, when this happened, after 12:41 takeoff, things look fine. the co pilot says all right, good night. just about 1:22, the transponder which identifies the plane s speed and direction, stops broadcasting. six minutes later, thai officials say flight 370 turns west. a few minutes later, the plane makes a turn. now, this still does not tell us who, why or when the pilot was reprogrammed, we don t know. what we do know is, there is criticism of the malaysian military for not intercepting this flight, which is unidentified at the time, and second guessing malaysian s air traffic control. what did they do when the transponder went out? did they radio 370? did they call the military? not at this point has been ruled ....

That satellite. that sort of goes back to that last question about why in this day and age is someone able to turn off the transponder and, you remember on 9/11, three of the four hijackers turned off or three of the four planes the transponders were turned off. if acars wasn t turned off we would know where that plane was according to everything that i have heard from sources. i m actually curious from hank, is this something that everyone knows thousand do? every pilot knows how to do is turn off acars? that s astounding that that s still within the realm of a pilot s discretion to be able to turn that off. hank, every pilot know how to turn that off? every pilot knows it. all right. billy helped design the security for that airport, coincidently. billy, let me he ask you this, the airplane, everyone assumes that the plane was fueled to go to koala lumpur and beijing and maybe an hour further in case it got diverted or head winds or it ....

Wouldn t pass that up, it s probably another 140 miles on to the airport i mentioned. the question remains if there were an emergency on board, i had always assumed the communications system the radio would go down when the transponder went down, it s not the case. the radio keeps working, if there was something on board, why didn t they i realize their primary focus is to ave yat and save their lives, does it strike you as unusual they wouldn t have at least for a moment said pan, pan or mayday? i don t buy either one of the theorys personally. i think they would have come up with the pan, pan. transmission. the aircraft could have landed on a 4,000 foot runway, take at least 6,000 feet to get it back off the ground again. also on the 777, it has a fire detection system, and also a ....

You have to have emergency plans before you ever take off. you have to have enough fuel to get to your primary and secondary in case something happens. so you actually program and have flight coordinates for airports other than the ones that you re going to but it s to deal with emergencies or weather or problems at the airport and you can t get in. so it s just a backup plan. patrick, i want to ask let s see. this one is from keith. could the transponder have been reprogrammed to emit a different flight identity? no. no. and don, i want to back up a second. richard made a good point a minute ago, it s real important that we establish the timeline, the communications timeline versus the acars timeline, make sure they match up and make sure that s accurate information before we start to rule out certain possibilities. meanwhile, mr. beatty made a comment a minute ago that i almost had to jump in. ....
