For him to come out and state something like that. at least until the search has not has gone on for a bit longer. because once there is real debris, once there is one piece of debris, bill, that they can point to, showing an aircraft, then he will come out. eventually of course, he is going to have to say that the flight is lost. he is not prepared to do it just yet. you also asked about the first night, what was detected on radar and what they know going forward. what did he tell you? well, there has been more rumors and g gossip about what the plane did. were they ignorant about what the plane was doing? because after all, the transponder was off. so to the prime minister, did the military see it in realtime? ....

That should have raised alarms and initiated emergency procedures that should have started something going long before aircraft would have been called to go and check the airplane out. walk me through that. do you remember the timeline? let s walk through that. 1:07, acars gives the last transmission. 1:19, there s that kuala lumpur looking forward to. and 1:21 is the last transmission from the transponder. the transponder is key in this. it was sidewalking the numbers 2157. that drops off the radar screen. that is the first point when area radar controllers should have started raising alarm bells. why is that squawk gone? why is that transponder no longer working. the next call is the radio call. they never received the radio call. when they don t receive a radio call and they re expecting mh370 to come into the airspace from ....

Investigation but also with the really irresponsible and disrespectful treatment of the families. sara, there was one point he made or actually one thing he didn t say. he refused now to say he believes the plane is lost. where just one month ago, he seemed to indicate, you know, he said the words that the flight ended in the indian ocean. what do you make of what seems to be a contradiction here? i make that out to be political maneuvering. i mean, i think that maybe they re starting to open their eyes a little bit to the fact that some mistakes have been made and it s best to reallocate blame to someone else. you do that by backing off of your statement. this is not an unprecedented situation. it s only an unprecedented outcome. there s been multiple terrorists attacks where the transponder was turned off, yet they ignored that. there have been multiple issues of planes being taken and used as weapons. they ignored that. there have been multiple instances of family groups ....

CNN CNN Special Report April 24, 2014 02:47:00

michael kaye, you know this, a former military pilot. you ve heard in brian s piece also about these self-ejecting black boxes which are found in some military plane already. is that an option that they that should be considered for commercial jets, do you think? i don t think it it is an option clearly that can be considered. i actually think in all this conversation, we re going from what we ve got now to the gold-plated option which is this live streaming through satcom. they re all interim technologies that have been rolled out three the fleet at the moment. one is the automatically survalent broadcast, adsb. the problem is, there s a single point of failure here. and jeff and david alluded to it. it s the transponder. the technologies at the moment rely on the transponder to either transmit or receive depending on adsb, what we ve got now, or what we ve got in the future. i think there s a relatively easy fix. and that relatively easy inexpensive fix is make sure you ve go ....

Come out. if there was a very quick break of the airplane there should be some form of debris when we lost the transponder. we know the last transponder ceased to function, important, maybe not turned off because it could have broken in a fire. again, plausible but there are a number of points like the crazy route and change in altitude all of a sudden it became to take. if there is no electrical system how is it perfectly going to 40,000 feet and down to 4,000 feet and making a perfect arc around those airspaces? there are still more questions than answers. michael kay, mark soucie and don dombroff. did a possible fire bring the plane down and what about sudden compression and the ghost flight it turned into, that s coming up after the break. ....
