전종서, 칸에 이어 베니스까지 '섭렵' : 100세시대의 동반자 브릿지경제

배우 전종서가 할리우드 진출작인 ‘모나 리자 앤드 더 블러드문’으로 베니스 국제영화제(베니스 영화제)에도 초청되는 쾌거를 이뤘다. ‘모나 리자 앤드 더 블러드문’은 미국 뉴올리언스를 배경으로 비범하면서도 위험한 힘을 지닌 소녀가 정신병원으로부터 도망쳐 나오면서 겪는 이야기를 그린 영화다.
첫 장편 영화 ‘밤을 걷는 뱀파이어 소녀’(2014)로 선댄스 영화제에서 호평을 받은 영국 출신 애나 릴리 아미푸르 감독의 작품이다. ‘모나 리자 앤드 더 블러드 문’에는 전종서 외에도 케이트 허드슨, 크레이그 로빈슨, 에드 스크레인 등 할리우드를 대표하는 연기파 배우들이 대거 출연한다.
지난해 영화 ‘콜’로 본지와의 인터뷰중 “촬영은 예전에 끝났지만 코로나19로 개봉일을 현재 조율중인 것으로 안다.좋은 경험이었고 많이 배웠던 현장”이라고 말한 바 있다. 전종서는 데뷔작인 이창동 감독의 ‘버닝’으로 2018년 제71회 칸 영화제에 참석한 바 있다.

소속사는 출국일정에 대해서는 “논의중”이라는 입장을 밝히고 있다. 한편 제78회 베니스 영화제는 봉준호 감독이 한국 영화인 최초로 심사위원장으로 위촉돼 화제를 모으기도 했다. 영화제는 오는 9월 1일부터 11일까지 이탈리아 도시 베니스에서 열린다.
