Experts have suggested imposing high taxes on vehicles and encouraging the use of electric cars.
At a seminar on urban transport’s impact on the environment held several days ago, Yann Maublanc from Espelia said that, after electric car usage kicked off, nitrogen oxide emissions in the populous Île-de-France decreased by 37 percent in 2005-2015, while emissions from transport decreased by 32 percent. The volume of fine dust, which caused 50,000 deaths a year, also fell by 36 percent.

Nguyen Kim Ngoc, 45, and Nguyen Cong Luan, in Long An, got married in 1999 and gave birth to a healthy son, Nguyen Hoang Phuc, one year later.

But when Phuc was six months old, Ngoc discovered that he still could not sit. Worried, she brought her son to hospital for medical examination and was informed that he suffered from cerebral palsy.

Vietnamese labor export firms are working hard to find more contracts and markets.
Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) expects to send 90,000 laborers to work abroad in 2021, mainly to high and stable income countries.
Director General of the MoLISA’s Department of Overseas Labor Tong Hai Nam said the department has renewed its agreement on labor cooperation with Thailand, negotiated similar deal with Israel, and carried out existing agreements with South Korea, Japan and some other countries.

Unique ceramic streets in Lien Mac village

Residents of Lien Mac village in Hanoi’s Bac Tu Liem district have been busy collecting discarded materials such as ceramics, bottles, and dishes to decorate the village’s streets.
Starting in last November, villagers began using use fragments of old vases, dishes, and bowls that had been thrown away to create a ceramic wall along an alleyway. More than 20 mosaic walls have now been completed, helping to beautify the village.

Vietnam recorded no new COVID-19 cases in the past 12 hours to 6am on April 11, keeping the total number of infections in the country at 2,692, said the Ministry of Health.

As many as 37,938 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or entered Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are currently quarantined across the nation, including 523 in hospitals, 21,705 in state-designated establishments and 15,710 at their homes or residences.

Ho Chi Minh City received 1.45 billion USD of overseas remittances in the first three months of this year, up 10 percent over the same period last year, reported the city Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs.
The resource is not only provided funding for local production and business but also added to the city’s foreign reserves.
There are currently some 2 million residents in HCM City living overseas.
Last year, the city received 6.1 billion USD in remittances, up 15 percent against 2019.

The People’s Committee of central Dang Nang city and the Import-Export Pan Pacific Group (IPPG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the development of an international and regional finance centre to attract investors in the future.
Director of the city’s Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), Huynh Thi Lien Phuong said the MoU, which was signed late last month, aimed to build a trading centre, casino, high-end entertainment and luxury apartments in the coastal area.

The Feed in Tariff (FIT) price of VND2,000 per kwh will expire in seven months, but the price for the next period has not been fixed yet.
Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) reported that it has signed contracts on purchasing electricity from 113 wind power projects with total capacity of 6,038 MW. Twelve projects with total capacity of 582 MW have been put into commercial operation.
Reports by investors show that 87 projects (4,432 MW) may become operational prior to October 31, 2021. Meanwhile, 14 projects (1,024 MW) are not likely to become operational prior to that day.
