On Jan. 1st. Wayne County responded to the scene of a single vehicle accident. 17-year-old Parker McGill of Fairfield was traveling on CR1035N when for unknown reasons he left the roadway striking a utility pole, and then a residence. Upon a search of the vehicle cannabis was found in the trunk. McGill and his three passengers refused medical treatment at the scene. A family is grieving the loss of an innocent woman in a deadly crash from a vehicle fleeing police on Monday morning.

In a bizarre chain of events, the Village of West Salem is without a mayor and is also down one board member. However, Fire Chief Harvey Fenton who was fired last week by Mayor Dan Baker was reinstated by the Village Board at a special meeting that had been called for 5pm Monday night by then Mayor Baker, prior to him resigning earlier Monday citing concerns over the safety of village employees.
