Estabrook, owner and chairwoman of Elberon Development Group, said the donation is deeply personal. She grew up in the Elberon section of Long Branch. And both her father and husband were treated at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch for critical illnesses. "The staff not only treats their patients; they treat the whole family," Estabrook said in a statement. The gift is targeted for Monmouth Medical Center's proposed Vogel Medical Campus, a 100,000-square-foot project in Tinton Falls on the site of the former Myer Center, a Cold War-era research facility that was known as the "Hexagon."

"Theo came to us as a young pup in the summer of 2011 and has aided his species in the wild as a wonderful ambassador animal. You may have noticed over the past couple years Theo has had some increasing difficulty walking. He had progressive arthritis, causing bone changes in his spine and compression of disc spaces which caused him to walk differently. Theo was placed on joint care supplements and multimodal pain medications while being monitored closely by his keepers and our veterinary team. While his gait was off, he still interacted well with his pack mates and keepers.
