He was born on October 6, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio to his parents; the late Eddie and Marguirite (Crook) Smith. Smitty attended school in North Lima. He married the love of his life; Nancy Louise (Needham) Smith on November 30, 1958 and together they built a beautiful life which spanned more than 62 years of marriage together.
