જીન પુલના આ 6 વિભાગમાં 11 સિંહ
રાજકોટથી 50 કિ.મી. દૂર ટેકરીઓની વચ્ચે ખીજડિયા ગામ અને ત્યાંથી ત્રણ કિ.મી. દૂર એક વિશાળ દરવાજો, અહીં કોઈને પણ જવાની મંજૂરી નથી. પેશકદમી થાય તો સીધો ગુનો જ નોંધાય છે કારણ કે, અહીં અનેક પશુ-પક્ષીઓ નિર્ભિક બનીને વિચરી રહ્યા છે. તેથી વન વિભાગ અહીં માનવ વિક્ષેપ સાંખતો નથી. આ વિસ્તાર એટલે રામપરા વાઈલ્ડલાઈફ સેન્ચુરી. અહીં મુક્તમને વિચરતા અનેક પશુ-પક્ષીઓની સાથે દેશની સૌથી મૂલ્યવાન અને શઆનસમા સિંહના સંવર્ધન માટે જીનપુલ પણ છે. જીનપુલ એટલે એવી વ્યવસ્થા કે જ્યાં પ્રજનન માટે શ્રેષ્ઠ પ્રાણીને લાવીને સંવર્ધન કરાતું હોય. જો જંગલમાં વિચરતા સિંહોને કોઈ મુશ્કેલી થાય, તો અહીં સચવાયેલા સિંહોથી આખી પ્રજાતિ લુપ્ત થતી બચાવી શકાય છે.
આ‌વી શક્યતા નહીંવત છે, પણ જો વર્ષો બાદ આવું કંઈ થાય, તો પણ ભવિષ્યમાં સિંહોના જે બચ્ચાં જન્મશે તેમને આ જ વિસ્તારમાં શિકાર સહિતની બાબતો કુદરતી રીતે જ શીખવાશે અને પછી તેમને જંગલમાં છોડાશે. રામપરાને 1988માં આરક્ષિત જાહેર કરાયું હતું. અહીં 2011થી સિંહ સંવર્ધન શરૂ કરાયું છે. તે અંતર્ગત અહીં 11 સિંહ છે, જેમાં બે મોટા નર, ત્રણ મોટી માદા, ત્રણ નાની માદા અને બાકીના બચ્ચાં છે.
અત્યાર સુધી અહીં 22 સિંહ બાળ જન્મ્યા છે. તેમને પિતાના બદલે માતા પરથી નામ અપાયા છે. જેમ કે, સૌમ્યા સિંહણના એક બચ્ચાંનું નામ સરસ્વતી છે. આ સિંહો પુખ્ત થતાં તેમને કર્ણાટક, રાજસ્થાન અને બ્રિટન પણ મોકલાયા છે. અહીં સિંહોને મુક્ત માહોલનો અનુભવ કરાવવા 6 વિશાળ કમ્પાઉન્ડ બનાવાયા છે. આવું એક કમ્પાઉન્ડ એક હેક્ટરમાં ફેલાયેલું હોય છે. નર એકલા રહે છે, જ્યારે માદા બચ્ચાં સાથે રહે છે. સંવનન કાળમાં નરોને માદા સાથે રખાય છે. આ ઉપરાંત અહીં લેબ, સીસીટીવી અને 24 કલાક સુરક્ષા વ્યવસ્થા છે.
સૌથી મોટી રાહતઃસિંહનો વિસ્તાર વિશાળ છે, એક સાથે લુપ્ત થવાની કોઇ શક્યતા નથી
સિંહની પ્રજાતિ કોઇ રોગચાળાને કારણે લુપ્ત થઇ શકે છે તેવી અફવા ઘણા સમયથી ફેલાઈ રહી છે. આ અંગે સીસીએફ ડો. કે. રમેશે જણાવ્યુ હતુ કે આવી કોઇ જ શક્યતા નથી.
સિંહની સંખ્યા વધતા તેઓએ ખોરાક અને પાણીની શોધમાં માંગરોળના દરિયાકાંઠાથી શરૂ કરી ભાવનગર સુધી સિંહનો વસવાટ થયો છે. જો કોઇ એક જગ્યાએ નાનો મોટો રોગચાળો હોય તો તે બીજે પહોંચવાનો નથી તે પહેલા જ કાબુમાં આવી જશે. જીનપુલનું કામ ખુબ જ લાંબાગાળાનુ છે. કોઇ જગ્યાએ જીનેટીક ઈમ્પ્રુવમેન્ટ માટે ખૂબ જ અગત્યનું પુરવાર થશે.
સૌથી અનોખુંઃ 280 પ્રજાતિના વૃક્ષો વચ્ચે 150થી વધુ પ્રજાતિના પશુ-પક્ષી
સિંહને મુક્ત માહોલનો અનુભવ કરાવવા 2.5 એકરનુ એક એવા 6 વિશાળ કમ્પાઉન્ડ બનાવ્યા છે જેમાં સિંહ વિહરે છે. સીસીટીવી અને 24 કલાક સુરક્ષાની સજ્જડ વ્યવસ્થા છે. જ્યારે ઝરખ, નાર(વરૂ) દીપડા, ચિંકારા, નિલગાય તેમજ સહિત 250 પ્રજાતિ મુક્ત વિચરે છે. વૃક્ષોની 280 પ્રજાતિ છે. આ તમામના સંરક્ષણ માટે સીસીએફ ડો. કે. રમેશ, સીસીએફ ડી. ટી. વસાવડા, ડીસીએફ ચિરાગ અમીન અને આરએફઓ રફિક સીડા સહિતની ટીમ શ્રેષ્ઠ કામગીરી કરી રહ્યા છે.
