Share: COLOMBO (News 1st); Former Mrs. World Caroline Jurie has called on Sri Lankan authorities to regulate beauty pageants in Sri Lanka and to create an equal and fair stage for all. In a letter addressed to the Secretary to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Jurie noted that Sri Lanka must become one of the first countries to regulate the pageant industry. “Regulating the legal framework for contestant agreements is a vital factor, Caroline Jurie noted adding that regulations should be designed to attract overseas investments transparently and effectively. “The financial and operational procedures of a pageant should be audited by an independent and qualified external party, to provide an audit opinion on financial conducts and conclusion over the effectiveness of the control upon internal operational procedures,” she noted.

COLOMBO, April 21 The reigning Mrs World, Caroline Jurie, has resigned her title, the organisation running the pageant said late yesterday, weeks after she was involved in a controversy at the Mrs Sri Lanka event. Jurie was arrested and released on bail this month after a fracas at the Mrs Sri Lanka pageant in Colombo, where Jurie forcibly removed the winner’s crown, claiming the other woman was a divorcee and not qualified to win the title.

Organization, on Wednesday said it had accepted the resignation of Mrs. World Caroline Jurie, a Sri Lankan national after she had decided to hand over her crown. Mrs. World, in a statement on Wednesday said that following Jurie s resignation, the first runner up at last year s international pageant, Mrs. Ireland World, Kate Schneider, will now become the new Mrs. World 2020. Caroline Jurie was crowned the Mrs. World 2020 and was to hold the international crown till December this year. But she had decided to hand over her crown after she uncrowned the Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 winner in a pageant held in Colombo in early April, claiming the winner was a divorcee and therefore was ineligible to contest in the Mrs. World 2021 international pageant to be held in December.

Colombo (News 1st); Mrs. World Caroline Jurie & model Chula Padmendra released on personal bail of Rs. 100,000/- each by Colombo Chief Magistrate on Monday (19). Earlier, Mrs. World Caroline Jurie and Model Chula Padmendra, were arrested by the Cinnamon Garden Police on three counts, and were granted police bail on Thursday (08th April), and were ordered to appear in Court on Monday (19). The duo was arrested on the offenses of causing simple hurt and criminal force, committed at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre on Sunday (04th April), at the Mrs. Sri Lanka Pageant. Sri Lanka Police informed the Court that the incident caused damage amounting to Rs. 400,000/- to the Nelum Pokuna Theatre.
