After being closed for more than a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive (BAMPFA) will be reopening its doors to the public on Sunday, May 2. Members of BAMPFA and the UC Berkeley community are invited to a free preview on Friday, April 30, and California essential workers with a work ID will receive free admission on Saturday, May 1. ....

BAMPFA to reopen in May with new shows and reduced admission

The UC Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive will reopen its galleries to the general public on May 2, following a 13-month closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The organization also announced on Thursday, April 8, that it would reduce its admission price to $10, from $14, for the foreseeable future. The museum will additionally adopt a new, three-day schedule: 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday-Sunday with the first hour on Saturdays reserved for members. Members and UC Berkeley students will be allowed to return to the museum beginning April 30; May 1 will be free for essential workers. ....

The dGenerate Collection at indie distributor Icarus Films will release the journalistic Hong Kong doc “Lost Course” in the U.S. starting March 5.
The Chinese-language film about a democratic village uprising against corruption known as the “Siege of Wukan” and its aftermath won the best documentary prize at Taiwan’s 2020 Golden Horse Awards, an event sometimes described as Asia’s Oscars. It was an official selection for the International Documentary Festival Amsterdam’s non-competitive Frontlight section, as well as the 2019 Hong Kong Asian Film Festival and the 2019 Vancouver International Film Festival. ....
