5G网络的日益成熟推动了关键性技术的发展，例如网络功能虚拟化（NFV）、软件定义网络（SDN）、多接入边缘计算（MEC）和网络切片（Network Slicing）等技术，都在不断向前演进。其中，网络切片、终端切片作为时下热议的5G技术应用也逐步走向台前，在运营商、芯片厂商、终端厂商的多方合作下，有望进一步提升5G用户的日常使用体验。
5G网络切片是必经之路，中国运营商抢先布局
网络切片的本质是实现有效分工，提高传输效率
在5G网络切片领域，布局最为积极的依然是运营商。早在2017年中国移动就联合多个产业伙伴发布了服务可保证的5G网络切片白皮书，率先开启5G网络切片的商用布局。此后中国移动还陆续发布了《网络切片分级白皮书》、《5G智能终端切片白皮书》等行业文献，提出网络切片端到端的“三层六域七大流程”的概念，逐步实现网络切片服务质量保障能力。
根据最新的消息显示，近日NGMN批准了中国移动牵头的“5G智能终端操作系统网络切片第二阶段”（Network Slicing for Operating Systems of 5G Smart Phones Phase 2）NGMN与GTI联合项目立项，获得了包括联发科在内的国内外多家运营商及厂商的支持。项目第二阶段主要围绕基于实际网元的切片实验室/外场测试进行，计划输出终端切片测试架构及测试结果，并通过NGMN与GTI产业平台向产业界共享测试信息，共同探讨终端切片可行性。
共赢5G，芯片厂商与运营商保持紧密合作
在5G初期阶段，联发科就参与了中国移动组织的5G Sub-6原型终端的技术试验，此后还先后完成了NB-IoT R14的多载波增强验证、新一代5G全互联PC领域的合作，甚至中国移动日前最新发布的NZONE S7 Pro 5G智能手机终端也采用了联发科的天玑5G移动芯片。
双方的合作范畴涵盖了通信技术、移动终端、PC终端等方面，再加上联发科是中国移动5G终端先行者产业联盟的理事单位，可以说两家企业面向5G在技术、终端以及产业角色层面建立了长期且深度的合作。
5G终端切片潜能巨大，是行业的一片“沃土”
目前该项目获得了像联发科这样的芯片厂商的支持，同时还有多家运营商参与，此次由中国移动牵头依托NGMN与GTI产业平台的联合项目立项进一步补充了基于实际网元的测试空白，并有望为3GPP提供更多的有益反馈及输入。
从市场价值来看，5G网络切片、5G终端切片无疑能实现多方共赢。首先，运营商可以通过切片经营，为5G市场带来更好的网络连接质量，进一步推动5G普及；对于芯片厂商、终端厂商、行业解决方案商而言，可以为用户打造具备差异化的优质产品和服务；在消费者层面，通过按需购买，可以得到更优的5G体验，在很最大程度上增进了市场对5G技术、终端和应用的需求，从而对5G的全局发展产生正向促进作用。
从目前进度来看，中国移动牵头的5G智能终端操作系统网络切片从立项到成功商用还需要一段时间。伴随联发科、德国电信、爱立信等国内外多家运营商及厂商的支持，将逐渐形成推动产业发展的合力，预计该项目达成目标的时间会进一步加快。
