Operation Support Our Troops-America to host Over the Edge fundraiser Sept. 11 at Hotel Arista

Operation Support Our Troops-America, a Naperville-based nonprofit, has announced their upcoming fundraiser, Over the Edge.
According to Executive Director Scott Maxson, Over the Edge is an exciting way to come together as a community, bring awareness to our mission and raise funds to continue to support those who sacrifice so much for our freedom. On Sept. 11, Operation Support Our Troops -America, will bring this exciting event to the Hotel Arista in Naperville. Partnering with Over the Edge Global, OSOT-America and its participants will be rappelling down the side of the hotel to raise funds and awareness for our mission.

Along with rappelling there will be food, music, interactive displays and in general a day to honor our military and their families. Proceeds allow Operation Support Our Troops-America to continue serving more veterans and military families through the active duty, veteran and Families of the Fallen programs. ....

Oliver North to bring patriotic theme for touring Vietnam Wall's closing ceremony in NC

NEW BERN, N.C. (Tribune News Service) Decorated Vietnam veteran and retired Marine Lt. Col. Oliver North will bring a family military history to Sunday s closing 1 p.m. ceremony for the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall at New Bern s Lawson Creek Park.
North is the keynote speaker, capping the wall s six-day stay in New Bern. Also, the All Veteran Parachute Team of former Army Golden Knights members, led by Michael Elliott, will parachute onto the site with flags and visual fanfare.
The public showing for the wall will end at 3 p.m. North will also speak at two morning services on April 11 at Temple Church. ....

The touring Vietnam Memorial Wall replica - The Wall that Heals - a three-quarter scale of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in the nation s capital, has traveled through 700 U.S. cities in the past 25 years. It s first planned visit to New Bern in 2020 was postponed due to COVID-19, but it will arrive this week for a four-day stay.

1. Where will the Vietnam Memorial Wall / The Wall that Heals be located?
April 8 to 11 in Lawson Creek Park, free, 24 hours a day, hosted by American Legion Post 539 and the Knights of Columbus, Assembly 1820. Programs will include location of 61 military personnel from Craven and surrounding counties killed in Vietnam. ....
