The events of this book are narrated after interviewing and corresponding with these veterans and their families. Memoirs, diaries, reports, correspondence with those back home have all added to the research for this book.  The author used a nearly complete record of every airman that crashed or bailed out at a location more than a day’s trip from a friendly airbase.
