Albany County has just launched a new initiative. It s called Athletes Are Children First. It s a collaboration between the Albany County Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center and Albany County Department of Recreation. They will educate and train local sports teams on how to spot, report and prevent child sexual abuse. Albany County expected to begin vaccinating 12 to 15 age group next week

ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy and Albany County Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Elizabeth Whalen appealed to younger age groups to become vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The push comes at the FDA is expected to authorize the vaccine for those age 12 to 15 next week. The push is part of an effort to get children and teens back to participating in activities they love with their friends and families. We need more and more kids to get vaccinated, McCoy remarked. - Advertisement - If schools and I say this to the parents and all the sports coaches out there and I ve said this before, please educate your players, get them vaccinated because we can get back to some type of normalcy in the fall for the kids and they don t miss graduations and proms and everything else, McCoy explained on the importance of reasons why to vaccinate.

Albany County announces more vaccination clinics in push for return to normalcy

ALBANY, N.Y. — Albany County Executive Daniel McCoy provided the latest on the COVID-19 pandemic during his Monday morning press briefing. McCoy continued to encourage people to become vaccinated against the virus. The county executive also implored people to share their stories and educate vaccine-hesitant people on the safety and effectiveness of the vaccines. We need your help. We need to continue to do the right thing to open up and to get back to somewhat normalcy or where we were at pre-COVID, McCoy said on the need for people to become vaccinated. - Advertisement - As of Sunday, 54.2% of Albany County’s population has received at least the first dose of the vaccine, and 41.5% have been fully vaccinated. Statewide, the first dose vaccination rate is 46.5%, and the full vaccination rate is 34.9%.
