Gorakhpur, May 13 : A police post in-charge was suspended for allegedly beating up an Imam while trying to disperse people after the completion of the namaaz at a Mosque here.
The accused official, Arjun Singh, posted in-charge of Pandey Hata area that falls under the Rajghat police station, was trying to disperse the people after namaaz on Tuesday evening.
He later attacked Mohammad Hashim, the Imam, and beat him till the people around intervened.
A video clip of the statement of the Imam had gone viral on social media on Wednesday evening. ....

New Delhi, May 11 : As part of the Sewa Hi Sangathan campaign, two BJP MPs from the national capital have opened more than half-a-dozen Covid care centres across the city.
Lok Sabha MPs Parvesh Verma and Ramesh Bidhuri have started the facilities having more than 500 beds in their respective constituencies.
Verma has opened six Covid care centres in his constituency, and promises to open at least one in each Assembly constituency in the west Delhi area. ....

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Health Dr Azra Pechuho on Friday warned residents that they must take extra precaution in the wake of first the UK and now the South African and Brazilian coronavirus variants being detected in the province.
In a video message released by the Health and Population Welfare Department of Sindh, Dr Pechuho said that in a genomic study carried out by Aga Khan University Hospital of 13 samples, 10 were found to have the UK variant, one had the South African variant and one had the Brazilian variant.
So you can understand the nature of the emergency, the pressure that it can cause on hospitals. The UK variant is one that spreads very fast. It has an infectivity rate of 60 percent and a fatality rate of 68 percent, she said, adding that the fatality rates of the South African and Brazilian variants are also very high . ....
