Santa Fe County votes to withdraw from coalition

rnal
SANTA FE – The beleaguered Regional Coalition of LANL Communities – a group of nine northern New Mexico counties, municipalities and pueblos that advocates for environmental cleanup funding and jobs at Los Alamos National Laboratory – appears to be crumbling.
The Santa Fe County Commission on Tuesday voted unanimously to withdraw from the coalition, created 10 years ago to ensure national decisions incorporate local needs and concerns of communities surrounding the lab.
Last week, the Taos County Commission voted 4-1 to withdraw from the coalition.

Created: May 10, 2021 05:17 PM
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Like it or not, recreational marijuana will be coming to Ruidoso.
During a commission meeting, the village learned they can t block recreational marijuana, but they can control where the shops are set up.
The mayor of Ruidoso said he expects a lot of public input on zoning restrictions.
I have a feeling it will work itself out. People here in Ruidoso, for the most part, are reasonable. We don t - I don t envision a bunch of stoned zombies walking down the street, said Mayor Lynn Crawford.

Cannabis Regulation Act | The NM Political Report

New Mexico medical cannabis producers that intend to continue doing business after commercial cannabis sales begin next year will not be required to renew their license this summer, according to state officials.
The state’s Department of Health and the Regulation and Licensing Department said in a letter that current medical cannabis producers can forgo the relicensing process that normally takes place during the summer months and wait to submit a request for licensure through Regulation and Licensing.
The grace period for current producers is part of a transition of cannabis sales oversight. Since the inception of the state’s Medical Cannabis Program almost 15 years ago, the program has been run by DOH. But after June 29 nearly all aspects of cannabis sales, both recreational and medical use, will be overseen by RLD, with the exceptions of medical cannabis patient registry and medical cannabis patient purchase limits.   ....

Michael has struggled with kidney disease since he was in his early 20s serving in the military. The high stress of the job ultimately put him in the hospital, and he was not able to return to the service due to his condition. The 37-year-old Virginia Beach resident, who requested his name be changed because of concerns about retaliation from future employers, said that a nurse mentioned during that hospital stay that marijuana could help alleviate many of his symptoms, like nausea and vomiting. But at the time, the substance was not legal in Virginia. ....
