Steve undertook his undergraduate education at the Department of Nursing at the University of Manchester in the 1970s, worked as a Health Visitor and then undertook specialist training in children s nursing. During the 1990s, he was chair of the Association of British Paediatric Nurses, and was founding editor of Child Health journal (now with Sage). He gained his PhD on the topic of mouth care for sick children from Northumbria University. He was made the founding Chair of Nursing Practice at this institution in 2000, leading the Nursing Practice Research Centre at City Hospitals Sunderland, UK. This is where he developed his international reputation for translational research. He has published widely and is currently editor in chief of two journals. He became Head of the School of Health at the University of New England, NSW, in 2009, where he reinvigorated the teaching and research capacity. 59 year old UK midwife and nurse Rachael Hearson has worked in the health care industry for more than 40 years and is now sharing some of her bizarre encounters while visiting family homes in her new book Handle With Care: Confessions of an NHS Health Visitor.
Rachael revealed how she was forced to teach the husband and wife about the logistics of sex after realizing they had no idea about their own biology.
Previously speaking to the Mirror she explained: “They had been married for some years but children ‘hadn t come along.’

A new confidential high tech service has been set up by a joint team of local health and care staff to offer support to parents, carers, and children and young people who live in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (or are registered with a GP in the area).
The service offers help and advice on a range of health related issues giving up to date relevant information or where applicable setting up direct appointments or helping to access other more appropriate services.
It is run by a multiple group of healthcare practitioners working together as one team, allowing a joined up service for all children, young people and their parents and carers. Using the portal is easy to use and users will only need to tell their story once, rather than to different professionals, leading to better care and a better experience. ....
