Last week the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a public hearing on Reclaiming Congressional War Powers. It s an admirable aspiration, but more than talk will be necessary for the legislative branch to wrest back from the White House its constitutional authority to decide when the United States goes to war.
Presidents of both parties have deployed U.S. forces on the basis of outdated congressional authorizations or under an exaggerated notion of their powers as commander in chief. That lack of accountability harms more than Congress pride. Historical Data Offers a Glimpse into Mental Health of Adolescents During COVID-19
A team of researchers has sought to mitigate the mental health impacts of COVID-19 on adolescents by harnessing previous research on youth physical and mental health.
Their review also drew on the psychological stressors of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami on children. The results were published in the Tohoku Journal of Experimental Medicine on March 26, 2021.
“We combined past research on the psychological stress on children with present studies on the effects of COVID-19,” said Junko Okuyama of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Tohoku University Hospital and lead author of the study. “We found that exercise, even in limited forms, would help reduce mental health issues.” ....

PETALING JAYA: A coalition of trade and business associations has asked the government to consult them when they come up with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Industries Unite said they were always willing and would find the time to engage with authorities to design practical procedures.
“It is very detrimental when SOPs come out and cause so much uncertainty and fear. Then we try to amend it, but the damage is done, ” said one of its members Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok during a press conference on Wednesday (March 17).
Teo, who is also the president of the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, said there were times when there was not enough consultation. ....
