NHS staff survey adds to concerns over wellbeing and discrimination


More than two in five health workers are feeling unwell because of work-related stress and more than a third are considering leaving their current organisation, the latest annual NHS staff survey has revealed.
Results also identified further concerns over equality and discrimination in the health service with staff from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) background “more likely” to have worked on Covid-19 wards than White staff.
The 2020 NHS Staff Survey was completed by 595,270 staff in England between September and December 2020 and the results come amid an ongoing backlash over staff pay.
Unions and other commentators have said findings around staff wellbeing were a cause for “major concern” and have called on the government to take action. ....

BAME nurses still facing three times higher levels of discrimination


Nurses from Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds who work in the NHS in England continue to face much higher levels of discrimination at work compared with White colleagues, latest data reveals.
The 2020 Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) report showed that the proportion of BAME nurses reporting being discriminated against by managers and colleagues was almost triple that of White nurses.
