Christmas Oratorio as Hausmusik among friends. With a small cast and no large choir, the ensemble has arranged 30 arias, recitatives, choruses, and chorales from Bach s masterpiece in its own version. The score remains untouched, but electric guitar and Hammond organ sound in the continuo, there’s only one trumpet, and the whole ensemble joins in the chorales. View here.

Please join us as Just Bach shares the timeless beauty of Bach s music. Because of the Emergency Order in Dane County, this month s musical offerings were recorded, not from the Sanctuary of our home church, Luther Memorial, but from individual players homes, and from the lovely Sanctuary of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, in Waukesha. Just Bach Co-Founder Sarah Brailey provides the opening remarks, with an overview of our December concert program. Sarah then joins Mark Brampton Smith in four short chorale preludes on Advent melodies, from the Orgelbüchlein (Little Organ Book); Mark plays the organ part as written, while Sarah sings the melodies on which the preludes are based. Next we have violinist Nathan Giglierano playing the Largo from the third solo violin sonata, and then, joined by his wife, violist Gillian Giglierano, two short selections arranged for violin/viola duet.
