The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber will return to hosting in-person events.
The first in-person event on the calendar is June 24’s Business After Business, which will be held at Arm & Hammer Park, home of the Trenton Thunder. The event will run from 5–7 p.m. and will include light appetizers and beer and wine. It is open to both members and non-members.
The summer calendar includes many in-person events:
·         Princeton Pitch Stop, a program of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council, will be hosted by Grounds for Sculpture on July 13. This event will feature pitch presentations from various start-ups with real-time feedback from experienced investors including Sean O’Sullivan of SOSV and Kelly Ford from Edison Partners. ....

Hopewell's 'Nana' marks her 100th birthday with a drive-by celebration

Evelyn Brooks has a lot to celebrate this month. She received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, she turned 100, and even though her friends and family couldn’t hold a traditional birthday party for her due to the COVID-19 pandemic, her mailbox has been stuffed with birthday cards, her church planned a virtual surprise celebration for her, and a parade of more than 100 vehicles filled with well-wishers visited her to mark her special day.
Brooks, known to family, friends, and the greater Hopewell Valley community simply as “Nana”, held court Saturday afternoon wearing a face mask and sitting on a special plastic protective chair in front of the Hopewell Train Station as people pulled up in their vehicles to wish her a happy birthday and drop off flowers, balloons, and other presents. NEW YORK (WABC) For many African-Americans who are descendants of slaves, their lineage is often an enigma.
Now, two New Jersey women have unearthed a bit of history some never knew existed, and their investigation took them down a winding path of their own ancestry.
African-American history is American history, SSAAM Executive Director Caroline Katmann said.
They say you can t really know where you re going unless you know where you have been.
We do need to know, where did we come from, and how did we get here, Co-founder of SSAAM Elaine Buck said.
Questions that taunted Co-founder Beverly Mills and Buck to investigate their own family history, opening a gateway to stories they say were hidden for far too long. ....
