Smithfield Farm Owner Says Friday's Loose Horse Is Not Hers

Falmouth Marine and Environmental Services reported that a horse got loose on Friday, April 2, and that its personnel returned it to Smithfield Farm, but farm owner Janice Foster said the horse is not hers.
The incident occurred less than a week after the board of health rescinded the farm’s stable license based on several health and safety concerns including an unsecure horse chorale.
According to Falmouth police, dispatch received a report of a horse loose in the backyard of a home at 850 Carriage Shop Road near Blueberry Lane. The home is adjacent to the farm property on Sandwich Road. Police notified MES, which captured the horse and returned it to Smithfield Farm. ....

Bills from local lawmakers hanging in the balance

A letter to the editor Wednesday, “Fear socialism, not climate,” provides an excellent opportunity to consider the big picture, from science to politics, and perhaps beyond. Many people fear that climate change is a false pretense for establishing a one-world, socialistic government. But wha…

B.C. residents owing securities fines could now lose driving rights

“If investors and our capital markets are harmed because of misconduct, there should be consequences. If you don’t pay the sanctions we impose, it can have an impact on your everyday life,” said Brenda Leong, BCSC Chair and Chief Executive Officer.
The new penalties will only impact those owing $3,000 or more, and even then the Commission will exercise its discretion and judge each case individually. The BCSC must also notify the resident of the action and withdraw it if the subject agrees to pay up, either in full or on a payment plan.
B.C. is the first province in the nation to go after its residents’ driving privileges over investment misconduct. ....

The Most Anticipated Licensing Round Of 2021

The Most Anticipated Licensing Round Of 2021
By Viktor Katona - Apr 03, 2021, 12:00 PM CDT
The energy markets have seen several major upsets during the 21st century yet one can state fairly confidently that the market slump of 2020-2021 has triggered the most damage of them all. This is also true for international licensing where dozens of rounds were delayed, either to 2021 or indeterminately, for fear of not generating enough interest amidst drastic CAPEX cuts and massive divestment schemes. The end result is that 2020 was the weakest year in terms of total acreage awarded to oil and gas companies since 2002 (0.35 million km2), roughly a third of what it was in 2019. The price rebound of February-March 2021 will provide a suitable springboard for new licensing round – it is this momentum that Egypt will try to capitalize on with its latest licensing round.  Egypt’s last licensing round was held in 2019, then the Red Sea auctioning saw 3 blocks allocated b ....
