US-based Nigerian, abducted by suspected herdsmen, found dead

AN American-based Nigerian, Prince Eloniyo Abuda, has been found dead five days after he was abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen.
Abuda, who lived in Atlanta, Georgia, was abducted last Saturday with two other men and a woman along the Benin-Auchi road.
He was said to be traveling from his hometown, Fugar in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State to Lagos to catch a flight to the United States when they were seized by the herdsmen.
Abuda, who was said to be the President of Fugar America Foundation, was reportedly shot by the kidnappers after he slumped during the forced long march to the bush. ....

Police comb Benin forest for killers of U.S.-based Nigerian

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Philip Ogbadu, on Wednesday, led some police operatives to a forest along the Benin bypass, in search of the killers of a U.S.-based Nigerian, Dennis Abuda, who was killed on Saturday by his abductors.
The slain Mr Abuda, who is based in Atlanta, Georgia, was abducted along the Benin bypass by unknown gunmen alongside other members of his family who were travelling with him to Lagos to catch a flight to the U.S.
The Abudas were said to have left Fugar, in Etsako Central Local Government Area in the early hours of Saturday in a Toyota Sienna with registration number, LAGOS, SMK 606 GQ, when they were ambushed by the gunmen. ....

Anxiety has gripped some members and supporters of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Ize Iyamu, in the September 19, 2020 governorship election as the Federal High Court in Abuja would today (Saturday) rule on an alleged forgery and perjury case brought against the governor by the APC and a member of the party, William Edobor.
After exchange of legal fireworks on the pre-election suits, the parties on Thursday adopted their written addresses and the presiding judge Justice Ahmed Muhammed fixed today for ruling. ....

Anxiety in Edo as court rules on Obaseki's certificate today

THERE is anxiety among members and supporters of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate in the September 19, 2020 governorship election as the Federal High Court in Abuja will today rule on an alleged forgery and perjury case brought against the governor by the APC and a member of the party, William Edobor.
After exchange of legal fireworks on the pre-election suits, the parties on Thursday adopted their written addresses and the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Muhammed fixed today for ruling.
A member of the PDP and associate of Obaseki told Saturday Vanguard yesterday that “everybody is waiting for the day, some of us are restless but we are confident because our legal team did a good job and from my view, they could not prove any case of forgery so we expect a favourable ruling” while a supporter of the candidate of the APC in the election, Pastor Osagie ....
