The Utah Department of Health reported 530 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday but no additional deaths from the virus.
There have now been 391,177 coronavirus cases in Utah since the pandemic began more than a year ago, and Utah’s death toll has reached 2,161 lives lost.
The total number of vaccine doses administered in the state is 1,768,246, a daily increase of 30,243 despite the pause by Utah and other states in administering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine after six women in other parts of the country developed blood clots. ....

“Physically, training on hills builds muscle strength,” says Maryland-based running coach Lisa Levin.“And hill sprints or repeats can help improve running economy, which translates into less energy expended over the course of a longer distance race.”

Utah this week invited its biggest group yet to join the line for COVID-19 vaccinations, as residents over 50 and with more common health conditions like diabetes or a lower level of obesity started snapping up appointments.
Yet Utah consistently appears at or near the bottom of nationwide rankings of how quickly states are vaccinating their populations with just 6.1% of its population fully vaccinated as Friday morning, on The Washington Post’s tracker. At the other end of the spectrum, Alaska has 14.2% of its residents vaccinated. ....
