The first full week of April has arrived. Here are some activities Penn State has planned for students this week.

11:30 a.m. â Sonya Clark, a professor at Amherst College, will present a lecture titled âThese Days. This Country. This History.â The lecture is a part of the John M. Anderson Endowed Lecture Series. From parent to advocate to leader: Elena Hung to deliver 23rd Mayers Lecture

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Elena Hung, co-founder and executive director of Little Lobbyists, will deliver the 23rd Annual Stanley P. Mayers Endowed Lecture, “Empowering Families and Improving Outcomes for Children with Complex Medical Needs and Disabilities,” virtually at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, via Zoom.
Registration is required for the event. The lecture, hosted by the Penn State Department of Health Policy and Administration, is free and open to the public.
Little Lobbyists is a family-led organization that advocates for children with complex medical needs and disabilities.
“Those who are directly affected by health care policies have been historically and consistently left out of the decision-making process, and we must urgently work to change that, said Hung. ....

A Single Story out of Millions
When Claire was born fourteen years ago, she was a gorgeous baby with big blue eyes, chunky cheeks and curly blond hair. After weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, she came home with monitors, oxygen and a full schedule that sometimes included three appointments a day to various therapists and specialists. She did not develop according to typical expectations, but she made progress at her own pace. As a toddler, she learned how to blow kisses, which became her signature move for years. She learned how to walk when she was seven. Through the years, she has pieced together a communication system involving modified sign language, gestures and a communication device with pictures to make herself understood. ....
